Have heard how silence is golden? We're trying to make both of you talk to each other but this is the case for those who even "Hye!" is a real struggle. Be quiet first. Learn your surrounding. Take up days, weeks or months to understand what he does, what he likes, what he eats; basically, stalk him healthily. Yknow, like being head over heels over somone; get to know the routines then you know how to start the talk. (Also it helps to change the topic from A till Z) Then, let God mend the flow where its going.

Ladies, he's a man. He married a lady but that doesn't make him a perfectionist. Have ever wonder why your parents still fights occasionally despite 30 years of marriage? BECAUSE HE CANNOT UNDERSTAND WOMAN COMPLETELY. Neither do women can't get through men everytime. We're on this equally. Well obviously we can't know trillion of human on this planet can we? My dad always protect me from boys but i need them to live too?
The good side; protective dads are super great cool dads on Earth. They love us-wayy too much than we can ask for. But its okay. Protective dads always have "shells". You just need to "break" them by talking from heart to heart. Usually its not that working and if its fail, it means that your protective dads speak through actions. They won't let go their daughters unless they see you are good for & to yourself and the gentleman you're seeing makes you whole lotta better. (One like him) So first, discuss with him on what he missed in his no-more-ponytail-diaper-baby daugther of 17 years old life. UNLESS, you're 5 and try to speak this, you'll end up be grounded for weeks. Even i support your dad on that.
